Conference 2014: Measuring and Celebrating Success

Laubach Literacy Ontario held their annual conference on June 13th/14th, 2014 at Lakehead University in Orillia.

There was a lot packed into the two day event. Several informative workshops were offered, some great meals, a Friday night banquet that including an amazing keynote speaker (Eleanor Wood) that had everyone laughing,  followed by a dance that had everyone hopping!

At the banquet Robyn Cook-Ritchie of Grand Erie Learning Alternatives in Brantford was recognized as the Lana Faessler Outstanding Service Award  winner and Blake Konkle of Literacy Council of Niagara West in Beamsville was announced as this year's Arnie Stewart Individual Achievement Award  winner. Congratulations to both of you!!

For the 4th year in a row Rubert Payea was able to purchase a laptop to offer as a student prize through his (and other members of the student committee - Mike Chamberlain, Jack Osborne, Velma Read and Annie Aultman) fundraising efforts. The names of all of the students in attendance at the conference were put into a draw box and a name was drawn Saturday at lunch - this year's Arnie Stewart Award winner Blake Konkle was the lucky recipient of a brand new lap top computer!
